Elon Musk Thanks Dogecoin Builder Billy Markus

Elon Musk, the new owner of the social media site formerly known as Twitter and now rebranded as X, expressed his gratitude towards Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus for a recent X post. Markus, who co-created the original meme coin DOGE, published a tweet urging the community to support the X app. Musk responded by thanking Markus, a gesture that seems to have had a profound impact on the world’s wealthiest person.

Musk’s Fondness for Dogecoin and Markus

Markus, who created DOGE with Jackson Palmer as a joke on Bitcoin in 2013, believes that the X app is vital for free speech and user rights protection. Musk’s acknowledgement of Markus’s post is a testament to their friendship, despite never having met in person. Musk has shown a strong affinity for Dogecoin and remains one of its largest holders.

Markus, in response, expressed his appreciation for the X app, celebrating Musk’s implementation of tools like the Monetization feature and Subscription that enable content creators to earn from blogging. Markus has notably been one of the top profit receivers from X this year.

Furthermore, Markus mentioned access to the Grok AI chatbot, a recent addition to the X platform available to Premium+ subscribers.

Dogecoin Briefly Takes Twitter’s Logo

In April this year, Musk demonstrated his unwavering support for Dogecoin by briefly replacing Twitter’s iconic blue bird with the DOGE mascot. This move resulted in a staggering 1,992% price increase for Dogecoin, with the price peaking at $0.096. However, this surge was short-lived, and the price dropped back to $0.082 after a few days.

Since then, the $0.082 level has become a resistance for Dogecoin, only reaching it a few times throughout the year. As of now, Dogecoin is trading at $0.07819, showing a nearly 4% drop within the last 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap’s data.
